Alpena got a strong outing from Javier García as the Partridges defeated the Mackinac Island Stone Skippers, 5-2, at Birds' Nest of Alpena. García, the winner, moves to 6-9. He threw 5.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 1 walk. Picking up the save was Jaime Sepúlveda, his 6th.
The Partridges got a big hit from designated hitter Ludovico Altamirano. Facing Mackinac Island pitcher Ed Walsh in the bottom of the sixth, Altamirano pounded a 2-run double to left. His 1st double of the season put the Partridges ahead, 4-0.
"We did enough to win," said Altamirano.
Alpena is last in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron with a record of 33-48.
