Oswego Beats Utica as Peña Throws 8-0 Shutout
The Utica Half Moons were almost helpless in their 8-0 loss to the Oswego Hydropathists and hurler Nepomuceno Peña. Peña kept the Half Moons confused all game, spinning a 7-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Peña," Utica manager Martin Bate said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 18-year-old right-hander had 4 walks and 3 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Peña said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

This year, Peña has compiled a 10-9 mark with a 2.72 ERA in 21 starts.
