Lilac Stockings Earn Late 2-1 Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Rochester Lilac Stockings and the Irondequoit Peach Kings, Jaime Mejía was the X factor. The Rochester right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Mejía yielded 1 run over 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 2. His record improves to 8-7. Joe Stanley notched his 8th save of the season.
Roslyn, New York-born Dustin Brown came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Lilac Stockings trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Rochester on top.
Mejía said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
With this game in the books, Rochester is 38-44, Irondequoit 38-44.
