The Norwalk Maples overcame a pretty good performance by Erie designated hitter Hestio Ruiz, beating the Commodores, 5-4, at Syrup Park. Ruiz was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Diodoro Uncal closed the game out for Norwalk, earning his 1st save. Norwalk, at 32-51, occupies last place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie.

The Maples took the lead, 5-2, in the bottom of the fourth inning. Facing Erie hurler Rómulo Calvo with two outs, Alejandro Hernández hit a 2-run single.

"No time for posing," said Hernández. "The next game will be here before you know it."
