At The Rosebush, the Mentor Rose Stockings and Buffalo Hopper Boys were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Buffalo Hopper Boys topped the Mentor Rose Stockings, 7-2, in Eastern Great Lakes Association action at The Rosebush. The standout performance belonged to Buffalo pitcher and Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, native Fausto Guerrero. Buffalo has won 5 straight, while Mentor has lost 3 in a row.
Timoteo Contreras drove in one run for Buffalo. With one out and the game tied in the top of the sixth inning, Contreras, who is tied for 3rd in the EGLA in home runs with 22, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Mentor hurler Effie Norton, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Hopper Boys a 3-2 lead.
"We'll put this win in the can," said Contreras, "and then go after the next one."
