Partridges Send Saginaw Home with 9-7 Loss
Alpena took on Saginaw in front of a lively crowd.

The Alpena Partridges withstood a fine game by Saginaw second baseman Luis Díaz at Birds' Nest of Alpena, to upend the Joes, 9-7. Díaz went 3 for 3 with 3 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Baltasar Manrique snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits over 3.2 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Jaime Sepúlveda earned the save, his 7th.

Claudio Gutiérrez hit a 2-run double off Joël Coutant in the bottom of the seventh, which put the Partridges in front, 8-7. In addition to the double, Gutiérrez had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.

Gutiérrez told a Alpena Citizen reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.

Alpena is last in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron with a record of 36-50.
