Norwalk Upended by Meadville, 8-4
|
Quinn Hurst was instrumental in his team's 8-4 triumph over the Norwalk Maples. The shortstop went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Meadville Zips. Marcelino Jaques, the winner, improved to 11-7. He held the Maples to 4 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 4. Meadville goes to 52-35, Norwalk to 35-52.
With Meadville leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Hurst hit a fastball from Édgar Bethancourt for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Zips ahead, 4-0.
"I was just going up there trying to see good pitches, that was about it," said Hurst.
