Extra-Inning Win by Voyageurs Over Whalebacks
The Grand Marais Voyageurs outlasted the Superior Whalebacks in an extra-inning thriller.

The Grand Marais Voyageurs weathered an outstanding game by Superior second baseman Uranio Díaz to topple the Whalebacks, 6-5. Díaz was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win was credited to Nerón Solano in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Chris Brierley took the loss.

Rafael Durán had the most critical at-bat for Grand Marais. With one in the top of the 11th inning, Durán hit a 2-0 fastball from Alistair Campbell for a run-scoring single. It put Grand Marais in front, 6-5.

"We earned that one," said Durán.

At 42-46, the Voyageurs find themselves in third place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Superior.
