Merkle Delivers Walk-Off Win for Roughnecks
The Derrick was the site for Eastern Great Lakes Association action featuring the Kingston Citadels and Sarnia Roughnecks.

The Sarnia Roughnecks picked up a win at The Derrick, taking down the Kingston Citadels, 5-4. Starting pitcher Adelio Rojas was a big reason why. Fintan Wallace earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 2-5.

Sarnia got a game-changing hit from Fred Merkle. The first baseman blasted a solo home run in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a winner.

Sarnia manager Pete Sommers commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."

Sarnia is now 33-53, while Kingston is 42-45.
