The Meadville Zips picked up a win at XYZ Stadium, taking down the Erie Commodores, 5-3. Starting pitcher Chris Owings was a big reason why. Pedro Alfaro was called on to finish, recording his 11th save. After today's action, Meadville sits at 54-41; Erie slips to 49-43.

Meadville took a 4-1 lead on Alfredo Pérez's 27th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Pérez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Erie pitcher Michael Holwell visibly frustrated.

"We have a lot of confidence in Chris," said Meadville manager Ken Roy.
