Brats Cut Down Amarelles, 5-4
|
The first-place Sheboygan Brats picked up another win.
The Sheboygan Brats did just enough to sneak past the Traverse City Amarelles, 5-4, at The Grill. Sheboygan pitcher Bill Phyle, in particular, had a standout performance. In 9 innings, Phyle surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 4 runs.
In the bottom of the 7th, designated hitter Eduardo Encinias gave Sheboygan the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Brats had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Traverse City pitcher Jake Ricci changed that -- and Sheboygan went on to win.
Said losing manager Zabulón Flores: "'I liked the effort, just not the results."
Sheboygan is now 58-36, Traverse City 42-52.
