The Superior Whalebacks finished things off in style.

The Superior Whalebacks beat the Marquette Smelters by a score of 8-7. Superior right fielder Rob Wells deserved the lion's share of the credit. Wells went 2-4 with 2 doubles and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Whalebacks. Superior reliever Chris Brierley picked up the win to move to 10-7. Absalón Músquez suffered the loss.

Menendo Pérez delivered a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth to win it for the Whalebacks. For the game, Pérez drove in one run.

"There's nothing like the buzz of a walk-off win," Pérez said.

The setback makes Marquette 61-33.
