The Norwalk Maples bested the Meadville Zips, 5-2, at Syrup Park. Hestio Espitia was one of the standouts. He was 2 for 3 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. Morris McLanachan picked up the win in relief. Charlie Dewald took the loss for Meadville. Nicolás Esparza got the save, the 5th for him this season.

There was more than one reason the Maples beat the Zips, but Espitia's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.

"We're all smiles after that win," Espitia told the Norwalk News.

Norwalk, at 48-47, sits in second place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie.
