The Gary Blast Furnaces defeated the Holland Tulips, 5-2, in Western Great Lakes Association action at Stadium of a Thousand Degrees. Gary pitcher Gilberto Moreira had a standout performance. Moreira got the win, improving to 13-11. He gave up 9 hits and walked 0 over 9 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The second-place Blast Furnaces improved to 52-44.

Had Logan Lyon not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Lyon hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Blast Furnaces.
