Stadium of a Thousand Degrees was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Gary Blast Furnaces and Holland Tulips.

Holland designated hitter Héctor Brizuela had a good game, even if his team did not. The Tulips dropped a 4-3 decision to Gary at Stadium of a Thousand Degrees. Brizuela went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times. Gary starter Germán Parga was credited with the win after throwing 82 pitches over 5.1 innings. His record now stands at 8-9. Picking up the save was Felipe González, his 12th.

The Tulips had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Blast Furnaces going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 33-year old second baseman Narciso Arrieta came to the plate. Arrieta hit a 2-run home run on a 2-1 fastball from Holland hurler Alejandro Rivera. It was Arrieta's 16th home run of the year.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Holland manager Fidel Cruz. "The effort was great."

Gary now sits at 51-45, while Holland falls to 51-46.
