The Rochester Lilac Stockings did little to support starter Jaime Mejía against the Oswego Hydropathists, but it turned out he didn't need the help.

The right-hander spun a complete game shutout against the Hydropathists, striking out 9 and surrendering 4 hits. The performance from Mejía allowed Rochester to escape with the 1-0 win, despite an anemic offense.

"Nobody came to me and said, 'Jaime, we're gonna need you to win this one for us today,' but I could feel it," Mejía told BNN reporters following the win. "I'm the guy that will step up for you when you need it."

So far this season, Mejía has a record of 9-10 with 76 strikeouts and 72 walks in 170 innings and a 4.18 ERA.
