Half Moons Pin 3-1 Loss on Irondequoit

Despite the rain, the fans at Cookie Cutter Park enjoyed a good ballgame.
Starting pitcher Francisco López gave the Utica Half Moons a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Irondequoit Peach Kings, 3-1, at Cookie Cutter Park. Utica, at 58-41, is 6½ games up in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Ontario.
The Half Moons got an important contribution from first baseman Nehemías Piñeda, who in the bottom of the sixth punched a full count fastball to center for a run-scoring double. It was his 32nd double of the season and put the Half Moons ahead, 2-1.
"The team always comes first," Piñeda told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
