The Utica Half Moons took on the Syracuse Halites at Cookie Cutter Park.

The Utica Half Moons picked up a win at Cookie Cutter Park, knocking off the Syracuse Halites, 6-2. Starting pitcher Andres Ortega played a key role in the triumph. Ortega, now 14-12, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs.

Early in the game, first baseman Jerónimo Velasco had a 2-run double for Utica. It was his 22nd double of the season and put the Half Moons on top, 2-0.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Ortega told the Utica Daily News.

The third-place Half Moons now have a record of 51-53.
