Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Irondequoit Peach Kings and Utica Half Moons.

The Utica Half Moons got a superb performance from pitcher Andres Ortega, but the Irondequoit Peach Kings still won the game, 3-2. Ortega threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball. Enrique Morán earned the save for Irondequoit, his 5th of the year.

Irondequoit used the timely hitting of Juan Valdez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Peach Kings on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Valdez.

Irondequoit occupies third place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Ontario at 50-51.
