Utica picked up a win at Perennial Blooming Park, bumping off the Rochester Lilac Stockings, 4-2. Pitcher José Arce was a major reason the Half Moons emerged victorious. Arce, now 9-11, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 5, and allowing 2 runs. By defeating Rochester, the first-place Half Moons improved to 61-44.

The Half Moons had to work out of trouble in the bottom of the ninth. The score was 4-2, Utica, with two out. Rochester, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Josh Riley dug in at the plate, but on a 2-2 fastball, he struck out.
