The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Holland fans at Sunlit Garden.

Escanaba right fielder Juan Meza was sensational. He went 3-5 with 3 doubles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Holland beat the Wanderers, 7-6. The winning pitcher was Alejandro Rivera. He tossed 146 pitches over 8.2 innings, allowing 6 runs on 11 hits.

Had Ginés Ferrer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Ferrer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Tulips.

"We'll put this win in the can," said Ferrer, "and then go after the next one."

The 4th-place Tulips lifted their record to 54-56.
