Telesforo Mata never let Mentor get something going. The Norwalk left-hander commanded his curveball in pitching the Maples to a 1-0 win. The win belonged to Santiago Goní in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Effie Norton took the loss for Mentor. Norwalk, at 50-60, occupies 4th place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie.

The Maples got a clutch hit from third baseman Andy Savela. In the bottom of the 12th, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Maples.

Savela told a Norwalk Today reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
