Cumana got a decent performance from pitcher Enrico Miegge, but it wasn't enough to beat the Caracas Sultanes. Caracas won the Campo Capitolino contest, 3-2. Miegge threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Cumana now is 7-6.

Curcio Saenz, who finished 3rd in the LE in on-base percentage with .431 in 1911, aided the Caracas cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder went 1-2 with a walk.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Marcos Ramírez.
