3-2 Win for Maracaibo in Extras
|
The Maracaibo Independientes beat the Valencia Industriales, 3-2, in 12 innings. Maracaibo pitcher and Ciudad Guayana, Venezuela, native Práxedes Vega led the way. With the loss, Valencia drops to 8-9.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 12th, 32-year old second baseman Luis Strege had a chance to be the hero. Valencia pitcher Declan Darcy wanted to foil that plan. But with two outs, Strege drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Independientes had themselves a thrilling win.
"It's nice to get the results when you're feeling good and throwing the ball well," said Vega after the game.
