Pittsburgh Pirates starter Matt Gilley turned in a top-notch performance against the Baltimore Orioles at Union Park. The result was a win for the Pirates, 3-2. The second-place Pirates have won 5 straight.

Frank Shannon, who finished 4th in the EL in wins above replacement with 4.0 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Shannon contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put Pittsburgh up, 3-1.
