Industriales Stumble, Fall to Independientes, 6-5

Conditions were not ideal but Maracaibo and Valencia were able to put their game in the books.
The Maracaibo Independientes cut down the Valencia Industriales by the score of 6-5, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Vicente Segovia. Segovia was 1 for 2 with 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Independientes. Efraín Cisneros went 9 innings for Maracaibo to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs. He scattered 9 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 0. His record improves to 2-2.
There was more than one reason the Independientes beat the Industriales, but Segovia's big at-bat in the bottom of the first was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-0 lead when he hit a 2-run single.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Segovia, "one at-bat at a time."
The triumph makes Maracaibo 13-6, as the team begins another long trek toward the playoffs in 1914.
