Mathewson Masters New York in Complete Game Win
The Washington Senators rode a solid performance from 28-year-old starting pitcher Christy Mathewson to a win, beating the New York Giants, 3-2, at Boundary Field. Washington is now 52-53, New York 37-65.

Mathewson was effective for Washington, seldom allowing the Giants to square up a pitch. The right-hander tossed 124 pitches over 9 innings. He limited New York to just 2 runs on 4 hits.

"We haven't been playing to the level we want to play," said New York manager Graham Haddon.
