Due in large part to catcher Martín Rubalcaba, the Valencia Industriales sunk the Maracay Jardineros, 6-4. Rubalcaba was 3 for 3 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times. Samuel Gámez locked down his 6th save. At 14-14, Valencia is in 4th place in the Liga Oeste.
Álvaro Pérez came through for Valencia when he hit a 2-run single in the top of the fifth. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, he hit a two-strike changeup to right-center field, staking his team to a 5-3 lead.
"Our approach was just to try to see something over the plate and be aggressive," Rubalcaba told the Valencia Gazette.
