Both offenses were relatively subdued at National League Park 1895-1909. Fortunately for the Philadelphia Phillies, though, Dave Bancroft was able to deliver in the clutch. He belted 2 home runs, to lead his team past the Baltimore Orioles, 3-2. Philadelphia's record now stands at 27-40, placing them third in the Eastern League.

The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Bancroft hit a curveball from Hugh Bedient for a solo home run. The Phillies, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.

"The crowd went wild," Bancroft said.
