The skies opened up and the rain fell at Campo de los Petroleros.
Due in large part to left fielder Tulio Carrión, the Puerto La Cruz Timoneles sunk the Maturin Petroleros, 4-3. Carrión went 2 for 3 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Aldomiro González picked up the win with 8.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 1. On the season, he is now 5-3. Florentino Cruz saved it for Puerto La Cruz.
The game turned with one out in the top of the seventh when Carrión hit a 2-run single. It thrust the Timoneles into the lead, 4-2.
"There's a lot in this game you can't control. Just take what the game gives you. I was just doing my best to help the team win," Carrión told the Puerto La Cruz Chronicle.
Puerto La Cruz sits in first place in the Liga Este at 19-10.
