Phillies Defeated, 8-3
|
The New York Giants topped the Philadelphia Phillies, 8-3, in Eastern League action at National League Park 1895-1909. The standout performance belonged to New York pitcher and Salina, New York, native Matt Adams. Adams yielded 3 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-6. The Giants improved their record to 39-38 with the win over Philadelphia.
The Giants took advantage of an error in the top of the first inning. New York was leading 1-0 when Bobby Byrne hit a 2-run single that was misplayed. It put the Giants in front, 3-0.
"I was able to fill up the zone," said Adams.
