Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Phillies
|
National League Park 1895-1909 played host to some dramatic action.
The Philadelphia Phillies faced a tough opponent in Baltimore pitcher Ian Moseley, but did just enough to pull out the victory at National League Park 1895-1909 by a final score of 4-3. Moseley went 8 innings and allowed 3 runs. The win belonged to Mike Steiner in relief. His record improves to 10-7. John Alder took the loss for Baltimore.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 24-year old left fielder Max Dills had a chance to be the hero. Baltimore pitcher John Alder had other ideas. But with one out, Dills reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run. The Phillies had themselves a dramatic win.
"The most important thing is that we won," Dills said.
The triumph puts Philadelphia at 44-42 for the season.
