Wanderers Lose 7-1 Decision to Holland
|
Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Holland Tulips and Escanaba Wanderers.
Holland Tulips pitcher Alejandro Rivera was in top form, leading his team past the Escanaba Wanderers, 7-1. Rivera, now 11-15, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 4, and allowing 1 run.
In the bottom of the second inning, second baseman Ginés Ferrer had a bases-clearing double for Holland. It was his 12th double of the season and put the Tulips on top, 3-0.
"I had my mind made up to go the distance," said Rivera.
The Tulips are now 50-62, while the Wanderers fall to 58-57.
