Piñeda Smacks 5 Hits for Half Moons
Players get multi-hit games all the time, but 5-hit ones are a whole lot rarer. It happened at Salt City Park when Nehemías Piñeda of Utica scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the Syracuse Halites.

He went 5-for-7 in a career performance to help the Half Moons get by the Halites, 19-3. The third baseman was in a talkative and jovial mood after the game, saying his swing "was really, really there today."

"I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens, good things happen," he said. "You know, like going 5-for-7. I could get used to days like this."

Nehemías Piñeda singled in the 1st, flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, flied out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 9th.

Batting .309 to date, Piñeda has 15 home runs and 77 RBIs.
