Escanaba Wanderers starter Hiram Sierra pitched a strong game against the Traverse City Amarelles at Roaring Dan Seavey Stadium, leading the Wanderers to victory, 5-0. Escanaba is now 40-74, while Traverse City is 52-64.

Severo Rodríguez had a big bases-clearing double for the Wanderers in the bottom of the third inning. With Escanaba leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Fulgencio Munguía, who is tied for 8th in the WGLA with a 1.34 WHIP, and swatted a double to right. It was his 12th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wanderers ahead, 5-0.

"It's no secret that good defense follows around people who throw strikes," said Escanaba manager Bill Allison.
