Rose Stockings Suffer 5-4 Setback
The Erie Commodores topped the Mentor Rose Stockings, 5-4, in Eastern Great Lakes Association action at The Rosebush. The game was highlighted by the performance of Erie pitcher Michael Holwell. In 9 innings, Holwell surrendered 9 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 1. He allowed 4 runs. Erie leads the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie by 15½ games.

Erie used the timely hitting of Tomás Velásquez to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Commodores on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Holwell told a Erie Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
