Utica Half Moons left-hander Andres Ortega pitched a good game against the Oswego Hydropathists at Cookie Cutter Park, leading his team to victory, 2-1. Ortega, now 15-12, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. With the win, the Half Moons improved to 67-46.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 1-1, 19-year old right fielder Gary Quinn won it for Utica. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Quinn hit a first pitch sinker from Nepomuceno Peña for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 2-1 win.

"When I go out there," said Ortega, "the last thing I want to do is let my teammates down."
