The rain did not keep Sheboygan and Escanaba from finishing their game.

The Sheboygan Brats defeated the Escanaba Wanderers, 5-2, in Western Great Lakes Association action at Roaring Dan Seavey Stadium. Sheboygan pitcher Ricardo Cruz had a standout performance. The winner was Cruz. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball. The loser was Víctor Manuel Enríquez.

The Brats got an important contribution from left fielder José Pérez, who in the top of the fourth hit a 2-0 sinker to left-center for a run-scoring double. It was his 23rd double of the season and put the Brats ahead, 2-0.

Pérez called the win "a collective effort."

Sheboygan is now 76-40, while Escanaba is 41-75.
