Tulips Come Back Late to Top Blast Furnaces, 6-4
Despite a fine performance by shortstop Paul Winters, the Gary Blast Furnaces lost to the Holland Tulips, 6-4. Winters went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. The Tulips, at 53-64, sit in 4th place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Michigan.

It could have been a different outcome for Holland, had it not been for Gabriel Martínez, the 24-year old first baseman . Martínez contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the ninth inning to put Holland up, 4-3.

"We ground out the win," said Martínez. "That's all that matters."
