Wet weather did not postpone the Oswego-Utica ballgame.

The Oswego Hydropathists withstood a fine game by Utica third baseman Nehemías Piñeda at Water Cure Park, to upend the Half Moons, 9-6. Piñeda went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. The victory gives the Hydropathists a record of 70-51.

San Juan, Puerto Rico-born Alfredo Pérez came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded and the Hydropathists trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to left-center to put Oswego on top.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Pérez told the Oswego News. "It's as simple as that."
