The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Bay City fans at Candysweet Park.

The Bay City Sugar Beets powered past the Bad Axe Stoplights, 9-6, at Candysweet Park. Diodoro Ortega provided some of the pop. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The third-place Stoplights dropped to 58-66.

Juan Moreno chipped in for Bay City, stroking a crucial run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh inning. For the game, the pinch hitter was 1 for 1.

"Nice win for us," said Moreno. "Now we'll go after the next one."
