Bay City got a big-time effort from pitcher Jose Fernandez, but it wasn't enough to keep the Bad Axe Stoplights from winning the game, 3-2. Fernandez threw 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. By defeating Bay City, the second-place Stoplights improved to 61-65.

Had Sebastián Bustamante not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Bustamante hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Stoplights.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Bustamante. "Just do my job."
