Stone Skippers Get 11-5 Win Versus Bad Axe
The Mackinac Island Stone Skippers and Bad Axe Stoplights completed their game despite the inclement weather.

Due in large part to third baseman Esteban Lagunas, the Mackinac Island Stone Skippers sunk the Bad Axe Stoplights, 11-5. Lagunas was 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Ed Walsh, now 1-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 6.1 innings.

The Stoplights had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Stone Skippers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 32-year old catcher Diego Santos came to the plate. Santos hit a grand slam home run on a 2-0 fastball from Bad Axe hurler Pedro Jácquez. It was Santos's 27th home run of the year.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Mackinac Island manager Ron Horne.

The Stone Skippers improved their record to 51-76 by beating Bad Axe.
