|
Joe O'Toole led the Oshawa Engines to a shutout victory, 3-0, over the Kingston Citadels at Evanston Fields.
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," O'Toole recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
O'Toole yielded 4 hits and had 5 strikeouts and no walks in the standout performance.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Kingston manager Rigoberto Ruvalcaba said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
This year in 33 starts, O'Toole has recorded 16 wins and absorbed 15 losses. He has pitched 268 innings, allowed 243 hits, struck out 140 and has a 2.75 ERA.
