The Marquette Smelters picked up a win at Peak Performance Park, knocking off the Duluth Zeniths, 7-4, in 10 innings. Starting pitcher Rodrigo Padilla played a key role in the triumph. The first-place Smelters have won 4 in a row.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Nick Sebastian was at the plate when Marquette scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Smelters to go in front, 5-4.

Marquette manager Randy Silander was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
