Stone Skippers Earn 6-5 Win Against Partridges
The Mackinac Island Stone Skippers overcame a pretty good performance by Alpena first baseman Ángel Pérez, beating the Partridges, 6-5, in 10 innings. Pérez went 3 for 3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. Tito Hernández, now 5-5, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. At 54-77, Mackinac Island is in last place in the Western Great Lakes Association League of Lake Huron.

Mackinac Island used the timely hitting of Moisés Cruz to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Stone Skippers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"Our guys refused to lose," said Cruz.
