Zeniths Need Extra Frames to Get Past Smelters
The Duluth Zeniths defeated the Marquette Smelters, 4-2, in 11 innings in Western Great Lakes Association action at Pig Iron Stadium. Duluth pitcher Omar Martínez had a standout performance. Duluth pitcher Menendo Terán earned the win, hiking his record to 8-3. Absalón Músquez suffered the loss. Duluth is now 80-51.

Curcio Torres came through with a big-time hit for Duluth. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 4-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"The effort we put into this one paid off," Martínez said.
