The rain could not dampen the enthusiasm of Mentor fans at The Rosebush.

Rose Stockings shortstop Juan Pérez left his imprint on his team's 7-4 win over the Meadville Zips. Pérez hit 2 home runs for Mentor in the contest. Eunosto Pérez, credited with the win, is now 22-9. He allowed 4 runs on 11 hits in 9 innings.

Moose McCormick had a big 2-run home run for the Rose Stockings in the bottom of the third inning. With Mentor leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a curveball from 36-year old right-handed pitcher Mamerto Hernández and punished it. The result was his 39th home run of the season, which put the Rose Stockings on top, 3-0.

"Enjoyed this one," McCormick told the Mentor Chronicle. "But it's back to work tomorrow."

Mentor, at 72-59, occupies second place in the Eastern Great Lakes Association League of Lake Erie.
