Rochester Beats Irondequoit, 5-4
|
The Irondequoit Peach Kings got a superb performance from third baseman Alberto Martín, but the Rochester Lilac Stockings still won the game, 5-4. Martín went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Miqueas Guerrero earned the win. Gerardo Domínguez, who is tied for 10th in the EGLA in wins with 17, took the loss for Irondequoit. After today's action, Rochester sits at 51-80; Irondequoit slips to 69-62.
Rochester designated hitter Taylor Cleaver contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With two down, he hit a fastball to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 25th hit of the season and put the Lilac Stockings ahead, 5-0.
"We just try to have good at-bats, whether we're winning, losing, or tied," said Cleaver.
