In a low-scoring contest between the Alpena Partridges and the Mackinac Island Stone Skippers, Javier García was the X factor. The Alpena right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. García got the win, improving to 15-14. He gave up 7 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed 1 run. Armando Posada got the save, his 1st in 1 chances.

The Partridges got a big hit from center fielder Joe Cassidy. Facing Mackinac Island pitcher Ed Walsh in the bottom of the fifth, Cassidy pounded a solo home run to left. His 17th home run of the season put the Partridges ahead, 2-0.
